The community of Columbia is deeply mourning the passing of Kyle Matthew Schreckenberg, who died on May 21, 2026, at the age of 25. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, Kyle’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew him, as friends and relatives reflect on a life marked by kindness, connection, and love.

Born on May 24, 2000, in St. Louis, Missouri, Kyle grew up alongside his twin brother Christopher and his brother Kevin. Family played a central role in his life, and those closest to him describe an unbreakable bond between the brothers, who were always present for one another through every stage of life.

Kyle is remembered as someone whose smile could brighten any room and whose presence brought comfort and positivity to others. He enjoyed traveling, road trips, exploring new restaurants, working out at the gym, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. Known for his generosity and willingness to help others without hesitation, Kyle made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Professionally, Kyle worked as a salesman at Suntrup Hyundai in St. Louis, where he was highly regarded by both colleagues and customers. His honesty, integrity, and approachable nature earned him repeat clients and strong professional relationships. Coworkers recall him as someone who brought energy and sincerity to his work each day.

A proud graduate of Columbia High School and Southwestern Illinois College, Kyle built strong foundations in both education and character. Outside of work and family life, he was known for his loyalty, warmth, and genuine care for others. In one final act of selflessness, Kyle gave the gift of life through organ donation, helping save others even in his passing.

Kyle is preceded in death by his uncle, Daniel Schreckenberg. He is survived by his parents, Tad and Ruth Schreckenberg; his brothers Kevin and Christopher; his grandparents; and many extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.

Funeral services will be held at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church in Cahokia, with burial at Palmier Cemetery. Kyle’s life will be remembered for his kindness, his love for others, and the lasting impact he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
